A noise reducing device for use in the vent aperture of a purge valve of an air dryer for compressed air system comprises a plurality of resiliently deformable gas permeable silencing elements which are able to deflect under pressure to allow gas to pass around the outside thereof and permit continued operation of the purge valve despite blockage of the silencing elements.
